GODLY HABIT FORMATION

Eight Student Formation Beliefs

  1. Character and moral formation occurs in the heart.
  2. What one sees, hears, speaks, and affects the condition of their heart.
  3. The heart change process tends to happen in small moments over a long period of time.
  4. We believe that our hearts need to be transformed because sin separated us from God.
  5. Transformation occurs through effective mentoring and modeling. These strategies include daily bible lessons, scripture memory and recitations, weekly chapel services, mentoring, class discussions, and Matthew 18 conflict resolution.
  6. We do not believe that one’s heart can be effectively changed through manipulation, threatening, guilt, or external rewards/bribes.
  7. We aim to discipline our scholars using the wise balance between accountability and mercy that results in reconciliation, positive student formation and godly character development.
  8. We do believe in the power of positive confessions through the use of our “I am, I can, I ought, I will” positive confession..  “I am a child of God.” “I can do all  things through Christ who gives me strength.” “I ought to love God and my neighbor.” “I will choose to do what is right.”
